Individual Emancipation
Women today are facing expectations they can hardly fulfill. They are expected to take up a profession and succeed in it. But if they do and reach top positions they have to deal with many prejudices. They are easily called tough as nails or cold and calculating. So they are supposed to be a mother as well and do the housework. Even if she manages both she is still subjected to prejudices- bad mother. Then if she is a fulltime mother, it’s again said to be not enough. So a woman is supposed to be all of it, she is persuaded the picture of a perfect superwoman she has to live up to. This builds up a lot of pressure and makes women feel like they constantly fail, they feel like they are doing something wrong in their lives.
Nobody can fulfill society’s often contradictory expectations. In fact it is the goal of every individual to emancipate oneself from norms and moral values, be it by parents or society and live up to ones very own standards. This concerns men and women both.
With my campaign I want to encourage men and women to set their own standards for their lives instead of trying to fulfill unrealistic expectations, expectations that just don’t fit. At the same time social acceptance is created for people that follow their individual path of happiness.
