Steffens Christiane 

As a Maastricht Academy of Art and Design graduate (class of 1999), I have dedicated part of my professional career on ceramics in relation to painting.
That is, I have been researching how to use ceramics, particularly tableware,  as pictorial objects, thereby playing with the element of decoration, so typical of pottery and porcelain, as a theme for my paintings. This quest has resulted in various art exhibitions, such as at the Museum aan het Vrijthof,  as well as the Maastricht Timmerhal ("Creative Industry").
Currently, I am finalizing my bachelor study Lecturer of Fine Arts and Design (shortened track for graduates).

During these studies, again I explore the possibilities of ceramics, but then in an educational setting. The leading pedagogical idea, here, is the relevance of educating cultural heritage to young pupils with a variety of social and cultural background.
My product design is also inspired by ceramics. This work endeavors to blend autonomous and applied art.
